Questions For Self Discovery

I recently was reading a post by my ultimate blog, life and girl crush, Stephanie Sterjovski where she was discussing these journal questions that caused her to stop and do some self-reflection. I loved reading her experience and after taking some time to journal with the same questions, I was really drawn to share with all the ladies on this blog.

I think taking some time for regular self-reflection is vital to our success because it causes us to stop and think about where we are going. If we regularly self-reflect then we won't allow ourself to get too far off track. In my experience, self-reflection refocuses you on your priorities. It realigns you and your goals. It challenges you to be real with yourself and your purpose in life. Self-reflection is not a time to think about everything you haven't done or become, it's not a time for a personal attack, but rather a time to grow in character and conviction.

I hope these questions will prompt you to either journal on your own, or if you feel open to sharing, leave me your answers in the comments below!

What am I grateful for? List at least 10 things.
My faith, my family, living in the pnw, this blog and the amazing ladies I have "met", mentors during different parts of my life, my amazing friends, time at college, starting a biz at 19, morning coffee to welcome the day.

When did I experience joy this week?
During the past few evenings, my mom and I watched a show on TV that has us dying of laughter. It's the little things. Also, I definitely experienced joy when I made the first pumpkin bread of the season. :)

What's bothering me? Why?
Realizing that I am not living up to my full potential. This isn't a negative, but rather a motivator to become better and wake up every morning resolved to live that day to the fullest because with each passing day is one step closer to my goals.

What advice would I give to my younger self? (Do I follow this now?)
Although I'm only twenty and don't have tons of life experience under me, I have gained some understanding in friendships and my personal pursuits. I would say, Grace, enjoy the journey because the destination you put into your GPS is not where you will arrive. It's better to take the road less traveled sometimes in order to get the scenic view. I'm so blessed to have learned this life lesson early on while in college because it brings so much peace and contentment in life because you now understand that they'res so much more authentic happiness when you let someone HIGHER direct your life. Of course, you have total power to do what you want in life, but you are always going to have this gnawing feeling like there's something to be done and that there must be more out there. You might feel an immediate sense of accomplishment, but you won't have a lifelong feeling of fulfillment. I'm so grateful for those that were put into my life to help me understand this. As for the second part of the question, although it's not easy and I make mistakes, I do try and practice this in my life today. I have seen everything turn out way better than I could have ever arranged. HIS plan is always grander.

What does my ideal morning look like?
I actually shared a sneak peek into my morning routine if you want to read about it!

What is something I would love to learn?
I would love to learn how to golf! Totally unexpected right!? haha but really I don't know what drew me to golf, but there's just something about the whole sport from the mental toughness needed in the players to the peaceful serenity that comes from the gorgeous courses.

At the end of my life, what do I want my legacy to be?
This is such a powerful question that we don't ask ourselves enough! The question is challenging, but it should be because it's only our life involved! But seriously, so many people go through going through the motions and just living from Friday. Your life should be set on fire with the passion for your purpose! I pray that my legacy would be one that inspires others to discover their purpose. That it would be a witness that God can take unskilled ordinary people, invade them with HIS grace and make extraordinary events out of it. Lastly, I pray my legacy would be one that I didn't become the best I could be, I become who I should be.

It's important for me to be real on this blog so that you can learn more about me and then in return, you can learn more about yourself through applying what you read here. I'm thinking of maybe making this a monthly feature...so let me know if you'd like that! Again, I would love to read your answers to these questions!
